Writing Spirit - Coming May 2006

Lynn V. Andrews - Author

Written to excite, ignite and inform the creative genius in everyone, weaving the wisdom of ancient and contemporary inspiration into one magnificent book, by master storyteller and visionary Lynn V. Andrews

“The writer’s soul is where my passion and curiosity live. It is not how or what you write that is important. It is your creative spirit. The musician, the writer, the artist within the inspirational moment needs to be held in the most precious of ways.…” --Writing Spirit

Best selling author and shaman healer Lynn Andrews breaks new ground once again in her newest book, WRITING SPIRIT, drawing on her 40 years of global shamanic study and adventure on 4 different continents with the Sisterhood of the Shields, and her work as a writer, teacher and healer.  Have you ever dreamt that you wanted to fly, and then wakened in the morning ready to build your wings?  This book is for you!

Writing Spirit Excerpts

From the Chapter, Climb Your Tree of Dreams:

“Close your eyes and dream. There is a cave within the earth which you have visited many times, whether you realize this on a conscious level or not. Visit it now on a conscious level. Return to the cave within the earth where you first encountered the Sacred Book of the Child, even though you didn’t know that was what it was at the time. Place your hands on its cover. Feel its leather binding, very old, ancient leather with gold lettering on it. Touch once again the Sacred Book of the Child. Trace the raised lettering with your fingers and open the book with great care and intent. As you open the book to a blank page, pick up the beautiful gold fountain pen that lies beside it. …

“You are a writer. Your act of power is the book or the story that you are creating. That is what is written for you in the Sacred Book of the Child. It is time now for you to bloom.”

From the Chapter, Walking With Still Feet:

“On this earth, as we walk daily within our creative soul, we walk before the gods that we have worshipped within ourselves, be they great painters, musicians, writers, Jesus, Buddha or the Great Spirit. Interestingly, when you walk at the highest levels of your consciousness, then your feet will be still. You realize that there is no need for haste. You realize that your heart is full and that all of who you are breathes with a fire of creation and creativity. As you live your life, your hands, your mind, your being are busy, constantly doing and creating for an effect, for a reason, usually for survival on one level or another.... The gods of spirit can be the wind, the sun on a placid pond reflecting brilliant mirrors and diamonds of light into your eyes. What I am trying to say is that the urgency that we feel in our daily lives, an urgency which is also a burden and a sense of duty and a question of what really and truly matters in your life, this urgency that we feel is something to be reckoned with. You have the creativity and the power of all of the gods burning within your own soul. Whether that is expressed now or later in your life is dependent upon what it is that you are really trying to accomplish. What is your own sense of urgency? For what do you yearn most urgently?”

Directional Cross of the Writers’ Wheel:

“I’m a medicine woman. I live in the beyond and come back, and you went there with me last night. You are being initiated into a knowledge as old as time. The dreams have touched you. Sometimes you can look back over your shoulder and not pay attention. You can choose to be blind, or you can follow your destiny.” AGNES WHISTLING ELK, Medicine Woman

“You can only be dangerous when you accept your death. Then you become dangerous in spite of anything. A dangerous woman can do anything because she will do anything. A powerful woman will do the unthinkable because the unthinkable belongs to her.” Shakkai

“Dreams are like clouds dotting the sky. Sometimes with power we create a great wind and sometimes those clouds bump into each other. At that moment of collision something new becomes possible. At that moment you can change the agreements that you have with your reality and you can change reality.” Windhorse Woman

“We were all born wild like a mountain lion, and to live in civilization we become sheep at a very young age. We become tame. But we are not house pets. We are fierce and wild by nature. Movement between one life situation and another is essential. Movement or action is the key that unlocks the door to our understanding. Dream on this.” Star Woman

JEREMY P. TARCHER/PENGUIN, a member of Penguin Group (USA):

In Writing Spirit Lynn Andrews discusses her own path to becoming a writer, complete with all the struggles she has faced along the way. By giving examples from her life and examining specific pieces of her own work, she explores the process of writing from beginning to end, and imparts her knowledge to novice and experienced writers alike. Writing Spirit addresses particular issues such as:

     - Why are you writing?
     - Who are you writing for?
     - How can you be true to yourself as an artist?
     - What are some of the causes of and solutions to writer's block?

Not straying from her spiritual roots, Andrews explains how being true to your spirit is the key to fulfillment in your work. She leads us on a journey to finding the truth within ourselves and teaches us what it really means to be a writer.
